Why is no one asking the question about repatriating the 407 so Canadians can use it.?Then the 413 would not be "needed". The 407 is underused and overpriced for commuter and truck use. The ill advised decision made by the Conservative government to sell it years ago to make their deficit look better needs to be corrected. It might be cheaper to expropriate it than to build another road that is not needed if the 407 was actually being used. The added amazing bonus to this would be the Conservatives would keep their greedy hands off the Greenbelt. Am I a dreamer??? Loved this story.

Please, keep up the pressure on Douglas. Your opinion counts.

With imagination and using common sense, we need to think about the next 7 generations. Imagination, determination and will can accomplish amazing things, like housing immigrants and keeping green spaces. Build up not out! Toronto has plenty of designated spaces for building.

Loved it!! Thank you!! G-d, do I despise D F and his criminal family. What’s mind boggling is that a buffoon and drug-dealing putz like him (or was that his brother—couldn’t ever tell the difference) was elected to the premiership. Shameful!!

Here’s me, a lifelong not-NDP guy, so offended by the stink wafting off this piece of work that I wrote a letter of encouragement to Marit Stiles. Go you too Margaret Atwood!

The Queen Of Lit

She wrote a bit

Of comic satire gladly ;

The Knave Of Fools,

He'd broken rules

And damned the Greenbelt badly.

Uprose the voters, pitchforks high

And skewered Doug with brio;

Knave Doug did fly to suburbs nigh-

The Greenbelt Must Be Free-o!

Douglas may get away with this. His wealthy friends would be displeased if he back-tracked. He is genuinely baffled by the outcry from nature lovers. After all, as he explained, it is only farmland and marshes of little value, so what's all the fuss about? Here is a man who, I'm pretty sure, has never paddled a canoe, hiked in a forest or sloshed around in a pure flowing stream, Ah but he does love his cheesecake and donuts! Perhaps someone could explain to him where his food comes from?

oh, you are inspiring!

I was shocked that evidently Dougie pretended not to know who you are! Or actually didn’t!

My goodness! I hope he’s reading carefully!

Margaret Atwood you are a force! Loving the comic - excellent addition - but your weighted words are what really take hold. Much Gratitude for the hysterical update and in particular, your delivery of it.

Das Rheingold now becomes Das grüngold. Maybe a new opera for COC to perform. Herr Ford with his robust stature would look perfect costumed with helmet and horns. Frau Jones could lead the Valkyrie along with Frau Mulroney, Frau Fullerton, Frau Dunlop, Frau Surma, Frau Hogarth, Frau Scott, Frau Thompson and Frau Lecce (in drag of course but still in bespoke costume) to haul away the dead heroes and champion health care workers to the new Valhalla located somewhere far north of despoiled Holland Marsh on brand new snowmobile trails thoughtfully created for Herr Ford by Frau Mulroney over objections by Vater Mulroney and Bruder Ben who would prefer sled dogs as more environmentally friendly means of locomotion.

I cannot recall a more unstable and sad time in this Provincial Government. The investigations are a Must. Please keep it in the foreground. Wish I could go to Queen's Park. Please keep writing Ms. Atwood! Excellent!

Thank you, Margaret Atwood and I wish a similar story could be written about the 25,000 Brownfields that still are littering Ontario's 444 municipalities.

Once redeveloped each one of the 25,000 Brownfield can on average easily contain 60 new residences, which will provide 1,500,000 new homes in Ontario and best of all, they all have the existing municipal infrastructure in place.
