The Oracle Mouths Off, Part 2
Multiple-Choice Uproars: more blather about the U.S. Election.
You can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs. - Count von Pahlen, assassinator of Tzar Paul 1 of Russia, 1801.
In ORACLE 2 we considered the possibility of what might happen should Trump win. Would Vance and his entourage win an intra-White House power struggle against an enfeebled and not fully capable Trump? Would Vance invoke the 25th, and send Trump off to a nice care home? Is a vote for Trump really a vote for Vance and Project 25? Very possible.
But there are some other ramifications to be considered. Here are a few scenarios:
The Trumpian agenda proceeds. To paraphrase his own words: you need a time of extreme violence and blood. And he will be “dictator for a day.” “Day” is metaphorical; it means “lots of days,” as dictators habitually become fond of their own all-powerfulness.
Sample massacre:This is the usual St. Bartholemews Day “cleansing,” the targeted assassinations and massacre of Protestants, France, 1572.
The Trumpian violence and bloodshed will have several targets: Any Republican who has opposed Trumps’s will at any time. Lots of folks have targets on their backs, including Mitch McConnell, Liz Cheney, the Bushes, Mitt Romney, and the Lincoln project. b) Leading Democrats, it goes without saying.
Also included will be those who even vaguely resemble an undocumented immigrant. Anyone with a gun will be enabled to shoot them, and will avoid prosecution by saying “I thought they were an undocumented immigrant.”
Anther target will be equivalent of the Hitler’s Brownshirts, taken out in The Night of the Long Knives. — those non-elected leaders who have declared themselves to be strongly on Trump’s side, but are now vying for power within the revolutionary movement — and yes, MAGA is a revolutionary movement. There can be extreme right revolutions as well as extreme left ones. First step in a grab for total power, once you have prevailed against the overt opponents — in this case the Democrats — will be those within the movement who claim to be your best buddies — people who think that Trump is their puppet and that they can control him, or indeed that they can out-MAGA him. They are rivals. Steve Bannon has said that “it” must be taken apart “brick by brick.” He should watch his back, and don’t take private planes. Remember Prigozhin exploding in mid-air?
Oh, add in the industrialist backers who think they’ve bought a puppet. That never really works. Look out, Elon. Industrialist Hitler-backers were shot by H. during the Night of the Long Knives. Count how many oligarchs have gone out the window under Putin. Putin is Trump’s role model.
Trump has said he will call up the National Guard to do his dirty work, and, if necessary, the Army. How do you think that will play?
His plans would necessitate obliterating contrarian journalists, as Putin has done, and taking over communications companies. All of them, including TV stations, newspapers, publishing companies, film conglomerates, and social media platforms. Look out, Musk, Bezoz, and Zuckerberg.
Trump wants to build a lot of concentration camps to put undocumented immigrants in. Guess who will be in there too, once things get going? Anyone who’s accused by their next-door neighbour of having said a bad word about Trump. See Cultural Revolution, China. Actually, see any moral panic. Fear runs rampant, revenge accusations flourish, deaths multiply. Next step: unpaid camp labour. In East Germany, every 50th person was a snitch.
Vance is slicker, smarter, and more plausible as a leader, but also more of a fanatic. Trump would target only those perceived as threats to himself; Vance’s scope is broader. He probably has his game all planned out: eat as much brown gooey stuff as you have to in order to stay on the good side of the figurehead; then, once the guy has been neutralized, make other people eat the brown gooey stuff, and let rip with your own agenda. There will be some opposition from True Believers, but what are assault rifles for?
What IS Vance’s weirdness about women? He presumably loves his wife and daughter and doesn’t want them to bleed out in parking lots, spasm to death with eclampsia, or die of septic poisoning in the case of ectopic pregnancies. But would he willing to sacrifice them in the service of a theological point, such as a cluster of cells having a soul? Would he mind having their blood on his hands? Is this some version of Delayed Mastery: he was an abused child with a bad mother, so he wants to turn all the women of America into the mother he never had? It won’t work out unless there are whole-scale frontal lobotomies. But maybe women will dress up in frocks and aprons and practice demure and submissive expressions, as camouflage. They’ve done it before. Lots. Work on your simpers, ladies.
If you don’t like all this and don’t want to end up in a camp or take an inadvertent leap out a window, or watch the American experiment in democracy crumble into nothingness, I suggest you vote Harris/Walz.
Couple more things to add:
a) Calling in the Army: the Army takes an an oath to the Constitution, not to the President. And maybe it’s not such a good idea for Trump to say he’s going to fire all the Generals, to sneer at vets, and to call anyone in the army a sucker and loser.
b) The Biden administration is in power until Jan. 6. Even if he wins, Trump won’t be able to call in the Army till then. But the Biden administration could.
c) The Supreme Court has granted broad powers of immunity to the President. That would apply to Biden as well, so long as he is President.
Next time: Oracle will take a look at the Woman Question, as they used to call it in the 19th C. Who knew we would be back there, and so quickly?
